Geometry is the study of rigid and nonrigid transformations; symmetry; congruence; similarity; theorems about lines, angles, triangles, and parallelograms; formal geometric constructions; the relationships between inscribed angles, radii and chords; independent and conditional probability; and volume and surface area formulas for three dimensional shapes.

Algebra II

Grade 10 | Credit:1.0

Algebra II is designed for students to build upon their earlier knowledge from pre-algebra, algebra, and geometry. Major topics include but are not limited to: quadratic equations; polynomials; exponential and logarithmic functions; rational functions; quadratic relationships and statistics; introduction to trigonometry.

Pre-Calculus

Grade 11 | Credit:1.0

Precalculus explores rational functions, exponential functions, logarithmic functions, trigonometric functions, vectors, conic sections, sequences and series, parametric equations, polar functions, and limits. Students are required to have a graphing calculator.

Calculus

Grade 12 | Credit:1.0

Calculus is intended as an alternative to AP Calculus AB. Students enrolling in this course are interested in the study of calculus, but not at the academic level of Calculus AB. Units of study will be similar to the AP Calculus course, but with a slower pace of instruction and with less mathematical complexity. Topics include limits and continuity, derivatives of functions, applications of derivatives, integration, and applications of integration.

AP Calculus AB

Grades 11–12 | Credit:1.0

AP Calculus AB explores the major topics required for AP Calculus AB, and is equivalent to the first semester of a traditional college calculus course. Topics include functions, graphs, limits, derivatives of algebraic and transcendental functions, differentiation techniques, continuity, related rates, Riemann sums and the definite integral, indefinite integrals, anti-differentiation, numerical integration, areas of planar regions, volumes, and surface areas of solids of revolution.

AP Calculus BC

AP Calculus BC studies all the topics from AP Calculus AB in the first semester. In the second semester, the course studies the AP Calculus BC topics of improper integrals, integration by partial fractions, infinite series, and the calculus of parametric and polar graphs.

Algebra II with a grade of A or higher or PreCalculus with a grade of A- or higher and meets AP course entry requirements of 90% or higher on the AP Calculus AB predictor. AP Statistics

Grades 11–12 | Credit:1.0

AP Statistics is designed to teach students the basic principles of exploring data, sampling and experimental design, probability and inference. In the course more emphasis is placed upon understanding the meaning and relationships among concepts and explaining these subtleties. Students will be able to use statistical skills to analyze the world around them and make conclusions based on data. Students will engage in experiments and data collection throughout the year.

Linear Algebra

Grade 12 | Credit:

Linear Algebra introduces students to the math of vectors, matrices, and linear systems, tools used in fields such as physics, engineering, computer graphics, and data science. Students learn how to solve systems of equations, understand vector spaces, explore how matrices transform shapes, and discover the meaning of eigenvalues and eigenvectors. By the end of the course, students will be able to use linear algebra to model situations, analyze patterns, and understand the structure behind many modern technologies.

Multivariable Calculus

Online | Grade 12 | Credit:1.0

MultiVariable Calculus is an online class with no direct instruction. The course covers higher dimensional analytic geometry, vector-valued functions, motion, curvature and torsion, partial differentiation, directional derivatives, optimization, multiple integration in rectangular, cylindrical and spherical coordinates, vector fields, divergence, curl, line and surface integrals, work, flux, flow, Green’s theorem, the divergence theorem, Stokes’ theorem, and the fundamental theorem for line integrals. This course will be graded on a Pass/Fail scale only and students and parents will be asked to sign a memorandum of understanding regarding the course structure and expectations prior to the commencement of the course. This course is pass/fail and for KISJ credit only (not university credit).
